Campaign Launch Celebrations
COMMUNITY SYMPOSIUM AND FESTIVAL
On Friday, April 29, more than 2,000 members of the Caltech community flocked to Beckman Mall to help the Institute celebrate Break Through: The Caltech Campaign. Participants enjoyed a symposium, experiential exhibits, food, and music.
SAN FRANCISCO CELEBRATION
Alumni and supporters in the Bay Area joined Caltech President Thomas F. Rosenbaum, holder of the Sonja and William Davidow Presidential Chair and professor of physics, to celebrate the launch of Break Through: The Caltech Campaign. Against the backdrop of San Francisco City Hall, approximately 240 guests celebrated with friends and listened to a special presentation on gravitational waves from Kip Thorne (BS ’62), Caltech’s Richard P. Feynman Professor of Theoretical Physics, Emeritus.
NEW YORK CELEBRATION
Inside the historic American Museum of Natural History in New York City, approximately 150 alumni and friends celebrated Caltech, science, and Break Through: The Caltech Campaign with President Thomas F. Rosenbaum, holder of the Sonja and William Davidow Presidential Chair and professor of physics. Guests also learned about the search for Planet Nine from Mike Brown, Caltech’s Richard and Barbara Rosenberg Professor of Planetary Astronomy.
HONG KONG ALUMNI EVENT AND CAMPAIGN LAUNCH CELEBRATION
Caltech alumni and friends gathered at the American Club Hong Kong on June 21, 2016, to connect with each other, celebrate the launch of the Break Through campaign, and hear from Caltech president Thomas F. Rosenbaum, the Sonja and William Davidow Presidential Chair and professor of physics.
